Says BNK has been doing good job

MUMBAI, July 04, 2020: Nandakumar Pawar, head of NGO Shri Ekvira Aai Pratishtan, has launched the revamped website – NatConnectfoundation.com.

Appreciating the efforts of B N Kumar, editor and director of NatConnect Foundation.com, Pawar, popularly known as Mangrove Warrior,  recalled the former’s efforts in keeping the destruction of Parsik Hills in sharp focus and the subsequent campaign to save mangroves and wetlands.

In his message, Pawar said: BN Kumar (BNK) of Natconnect Foundation has been instrumental in helping with the media support to highlight the violations carried out by stone quarry operators at Parsik Hill, Navi Mumbai. There were 74 quarry operators operating in this belt from last many years. Far more excessive areas were mined by these operators illegally 256 hectares against 138 hectares permitted and further continued until these violations and irregularities were highlighted in back to back press conferences held at Press Club Mumbai. Thus, the picturesque Parsik Hill range has been saved.

For the last two years, BNK has been active in this belt to protect Mangroves and wetlands of Mumbai Metropolitan region (MMR) and Uran in particular. Uran, the largest coastal wetlands of Maharashtra is a rich bio-diverse area with flourishing fishing activity and several wetlands which are destination for at least a quarter of a million migratory and residential birds. By continuously writing to various concerned authorities about the violations carried out by the planning authority CIDCO, amd project proponents such as JNPT, Reliance SEZ and NHAI etc, he has been working very closely with us as a team. We are sure Hope that he will continue to be associated with our efforts to save Mangroves and Wetlands of Uran taluka.

I wish him all success to his new venture.”
